PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL RUNNING CLUBS!
Without Running club support many local races would not be possible. Although man races may not be involved with organizing the race, area running clubs may help promote, organize or even time events. Clubs dues are relatively cheap. Many clubs issue newsletters, have parties, group runs, get togethers and issue discount cards for some stores who sell running apparel.

WYOMING VALLEY STRIDERS ANNOUNCE 2008 TRIPLE CROWN    This year, the Wyoming Valley Striders will institute a Triple Crown as an incentive to get more runners to participate in our races. The categories will be Top Male, Top Female, Top Male Masters and Top Female Masters. The 3 races are: Sun., March 16 Winter's End 4.5 Mile Run; Sun., May 4 Cherry Blossom 5 Mile Run and on Sun., July 27 a new 10km Run. But this only benefits the better runners. So to make it worthwhile for all runners, we have decided to do the following. All runners who participate in all 3 races will receive a Frank Shorter Long Sleeve Performance Shirt, a $30 retail value.
The other Triple Crown in the area has their first race in May. Ours is 2 months earlier. So make plans to be ready in March. Only 2 months away.
All members of the Wyoming Valley Striders and those of you who have run in a W.V.S. race in the last 3 years will receive this information in the mail along with an entry form for the Winter's End 4.5 Mile Run, hopefully in the next week.
Any questions, phone Vince 474-5363(h) or 574-6911(c) or e-mail: WYOVALSTR@aol.com

GET WELL, BEST WISHES ANN STEFURSKY     "Hammer" on our forumboard has made a special request- "Fellow runners I need a special favor. Ann Stefursky, daughter of Tom and Tina has been diagnosed with leukemia. Ann was a standout track and cross-country runner at Valley View and Bloomsburg and raced often and well locally. Ann is teaching Special Ed in the Harrisburg area. Ann was diagnosed in Dec and is undergoing treatment now. She is feeling well and chomping at the bit to recover and start running and enjoy life like any other 22yr old. Lets perk up this young ladies life with prayers and some greetings. Lets let Ann, Tommy, Tina and sister Lisa know that they are not alone during this ordeal. Ann's address is 314 Lopax Road, Apt. E 10, Harrisburg, Pa. 17112. I have all the faith in the world that this young lady will recover and inspire people in the future. Thank you fellow runners."

"SPIRIT OF THE MARATHON" MOVIE SHOWING AT CINEMARK IN JANUARY 24th-     "Spirt of the Marathon" will be playing at the Cinemark 20 in Moosic, One time showing- January 24. 7:30pm
Spirit of the Marathon is a film that takes a close and very personal look at the marathon as never before. The film stars professional marathoners Deena Kastor and Daniel Njenga, as well as four unique and determined amateurs, all preparing for the same event: the 2007 LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon.
Spirit of the Marathon is the first ever non-fiction feature film to capture the drama and essence of the famed 26.2 mile running event. Filmed on four continents, the movie brings together a diverse cast of amateur athletes and marathon luminaries.
As six unique stories unfold, each runner prepares for and ultimately faces the challenge of the Chicago Marathon. More than a sports movie, Spirit of the Marathon is an inspirational journey of perseverance and personal triumph; a spectacle that will be embraced by runners and non-runners alike.
