GEORGE GAY FOUNDERS DAY OLYMPICS

The George Gay Founder’s Day Olympics were successfully held thru some rain drops on Saturday June 24th at the Tunkhannock High School Track. There were 25 eager participants for the variety of planned activities including a 50 yard dash, a softball throw, long jump for kids ages 6 and under; 100 yard dash, long jump, plastic noodle throw, softball throw and 400 yard run for kids 7 thru 10; and 100 yard dash, long jump, plastic noodle throw, softball throw and 800 yard dash for kids 11 and 12. The older kids, ages13-70 were encouraged to run the mile. There were 10 participants for the mile run. The results are as follows:
         Long jump
              1. Elizabeth Demarco
              2. Meghan Keiser
 
Overall Winner for 4 and under GIRLS TRIATHLON: Elizabeth Demarco

The fastest male finisher, in the mile, was Kevin Bandru with a winning time of 5:07.36. The best time for females was Shannon Hilsey with a time of 6:26.54. Congratulations to all participants. All the proceeds from the 1st annual GEORGE GAY FOUNDER’S DAY OLYMPICS go to the TUNKHANNOCK PUBLIC LIBRARY. The library thanks all the athletes and volunteers for their support of the library.
