Albany Valley Challenge 5K Race Results Sept. 27 2008
by Ronnie Robinson
The Albany Valley Challenge 5K race went very well in spite of very wet conditions. Being concerned about the possibility of the trail portion being to slippery, Organizer Ron Robinson considered using an alternate course, but runner consensus pointed to the original course. After the race, runners commented that it was great. Jestina Dawson of Deposit NY was the over all female winner. Dawson said her time was a little less than she expected. She was not aware that it was only 21 seconds off from the record set by Lori Kingsley in 2002. 18:14 in 2006 by John Evangelsta is the best recorded male time on this course. It is a cross country that some 60+ age runners can complete in under 30 minutes, but still enough challenge to give young runners a work out if they want.
