On 5/3 at Nay Aug Park in Scranton 45 athletes ran/walked the Pat Purcell Memorial 5K Race. The race is sponsored by the Central High School Alumni Association (which includes Tunk's own Georgia Smith) who provided registration and after race goodies.

Tony Lawson traveled up from Berwick to take 1st place with a 16:26. The top female was Debbie Paciotti (22:02). Conditions were almost perfect as the rain clouds moved out & the sun peaked out occasionally. This race traverses the old Central cross country course twice going around the park and into the Gorge & under the new treehouse. If you want to go deeper into the gorge & run across the new gorge bridge, come on May 24th for the Gorge 5K.- Jerry Pitkus
