NOTES:   "Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and race begins at 10 at scenic Lake Scranton, one of the areas favorite running spots. In an effort to promote health & wellness within the community it serves, Mercy Hospital, in conjunction with Metz & Associates, is sponsoring a Run/Walk on Saturday, June 19, 2010. All proceeds benefit the Mercy Hospital Foundation. The course is the Lake Scranton’s walking trail (great for running), 3.57 miles of pavement featuring some up and down hills. The distance is once completely around the lake. Awards given to the in the following categories: 13 and under, 14-19, 20-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60 and 61 and over. T-Shirts to the first 150 runners / walkers. Registration begins at 8:30 am and is $15. Rain or shine.

The Mercy Hospital Lake Scranton Run/Walk took place on Saturday, June 19, and was a great success for a race that will surely become a staple in the local running scene.

Thirty-eight finishers competed in the 3.57-mile lap around Lake Scranton, with Dan Dragwa taking home first place in 20:10. Heidi Peoples - along with her 10-month-old son, Liam, in a stroller - was 2nd overall and the first female in 20:29. John Wills was the first walker across the finish line in 43:01. Patti Shields garnered first for the female walkers in a time of 45:50.

Congratulations to all the finishers! The Wellness Committee would like to thank all who helped out, especially Tina, Mary Louise, Kevin, and Drew from SOAR and Mercy CEO Kevin Cook.
