Whitetail Preserve Results

67 athletes competed in the third race of the Pennsylvania Biathlon Club summer series at the Whitetail Preserve in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania on July 28.

The match class competitors competed in a relay format 4 km race with 3 extra rounds in each shooting bout. Douglas Hoover of Williamsburg, PA captured the men’s title with a 67% shooting performance and a solid run. He shot 60% with his regulation rounds in both stages, and then 80% with the extra rounds. He used two extra rounds to clear the prone targets and all three extra rounds to clear the standing targets. He won by 3:14 over Joe Iwan of Garfield, New Jersey.

Hilary Saucy of Harleysville, PA won the women’s race with a shooting performance identical to Hoover’s. She finished 3:13 ahead of her mother, Stephanie Saucy, in second place.

The sport competitors also completed a 4 km race, shooting at 25m big/big targets.

14 year old Jacob Walker of Hawley shot 80% to capture the men’s sport race with a strong run. He was 25 seconds in front of 18 year old William Pazio of Mahonoy City.

Nadalie Solomon of Nuangola, PA produced a very strong run to overcome struggles on the range to win the women’s sport race by a 52 second margin over Christina Capparell of Hazelton, PA.

Upcoming Oil Creek, PA race on August 11 and the National Championships in Lake Tahoe, California August 24-26.
