INFO: The race will immediately start at 11 am so that all runners will have time to pass the turn-around point quick enough so that the race does not hold up the parade.
This race is the first event of the season in Scranton and is the oldest road race in the Scranton Area.
The course is out & back relatively flat with some gently rolling hills,run entirely on the parade route.
Runners are asked to stay to the right at all times so not to interfere with the other runners.
It will start right in front of the Scranton Cultural Center (420 N Washington Ave) and follow the parade route backwards to the 1 mile turnaround point in front of St Peter's Cathedral (Wyoming and Linden). The race will finish back in front of the Scranton Cultural Center.
Registration on the day of the race, will be from 9 am to 10:45 a.m. at Lackawanna College Student Union Center (the old CYC) 600 Jefferson. Registration will end promptly so that runners will have time to get to the starting line.
Runners who pre-registered will pick up their race numbers and t-shirts at this time and place. Souvenir T-shirts are provided by our sponsors and will be given to the first 250 registered runners.
The awards ceremony will be held in the lobby of the Washington West High-Rise Apartments right after the race and is expected to conclude no later than 12:00 p.m., so that you can enjoy the parade.
Trophies will be awarded to the first & second place male & female runners overall. Plaques will be awarded to the top 2 male & female runners in the following age categories: 12 and under, 13-17, 18-22, 23-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, & 60 and over.
Pre-registration is $12.00 and must be post marked by March 7, Race Day Registration is $15.
Race will be postponed in the event of severe weather or if the parade is postponed.

INFO: UNIQUE Challenge to Climb the entire main concourse steps, both up and down for a total of 1,224 stairs in the Mohegan Sun Arena to support lung health programs in our community!
Participants will be going horizonal and vertical in the Wachovia Arena. Participants will start twenty seconds apart and scale 1,224 steps up and down the arena. The climb will include the staircases, both up and down, east to west that will be an individual challenge for everyone.
Each step taken brings the American Lung Association of Pennsylvania one step closer to finding a cure for lung disease!
Climbers must be at least 10 years old. Climb will begin at 2 p.m. - registration will open at 1 p.m. Participants will be asked to arrive at least 25 minutes prior to that time.
All participants will earn a commemorative tee shirt and have a personal photo certificate taken at the finish line. Prizes will be awarded in a number of categories.
A $25 non-refundable registration fee is due at the time of registration and will hold your spot as a participant of Climb. **Because this event raises critical funds for the American Lung Association, each participant will be required to raise $100 (not including reg. fee) to climb.

30th ANNUAL WYOMING VALLEY STRIDERS WINTERS END 4½ MILE RUN
EVENTS: 4½ MILES

INFO: $8 by 3/12, $10 thereafter. Basically out-and-back, mostly paved, with little or no traffic. Some dirt surface, scenic, gentle rolling terrain. Time splits at one mile mark. Digital display clock at finish line, Wheel measured, USTAF Sanctioned.
Records -Randy Hass, 22:24 in '87 & Patty Kupstas 26:06 in '89. Trophies to top male & female, Medals to top 3 M and top 2 M in each age group. Banans and Oranges after race donated by Bedwick Foods, Inc. All entrants receive either a pullover knit hat. Results quickly available.
This is the first leg of the Wyoming Valley Striders Triple Crown.

INFO: This event is celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Northeastern PA Regional Blood Center, with all proceeds benefitting the Blood Services Program at the Wyoming Valley Chapter. Race will start and finish at the entrance to the Blood Center, going throughout the Hanover Industrial Park. Post Race Party will held at the Blood Center with an Awards Ceremony for the top runners/walkers/teams and light refreshments will be served to all those in attendance. Special Trophy and Grand Prize will be awarded to the Team of five or more raising the most money to benefit the Blood Services Program at the Wyoming Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross. There is also a fundraising challenge for individual runners/walkers, whoever raises the most money as a single racer will be awarded a Special Grand Prize. Tee-Shirts will be given the first 200 racers registered!! Award for top male and top female runners/walkers. Awards for the top male and top female finishers in each age group: 15 and under, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+
