A group of friends and Melissa Ritz have put together a team and are running in the Wendy's Wonderful Kid's Half Marathon in Wilkes-barre,Pa on September 4th on their behalf.

NO "LIGHT UP THE LAKE" THIS YEAR-
LIGHT UP THE LAKE Iv will not be held this year. Look for this event, which was at Lake Scranton last year, the first Sunday in September, to be held in either the Spring or Labor Day 2011.

Scranton Running Co. is located on Olive Street in the Ice Box Sports Complex. Led by Matt Byrne, two-time Olympic Marathon Trials participant and two-time Steamtown Marathon winner. 2010 TEAM IN TRAINING MEETINGS/PARTY- The area 2010 Team in Training meetings will be held in Wilkes-Barre at the Odyssey Fitness Center on Tuesdays, July 27 at 6:30 pm, The Hilton Scratnon & Convention Conference Center on July 29th at 6:30pm and at the Aadvark Sports Shop on July 22nd, at 6:30pm.
There will be a Kick-Off Party at the Woodlands on Thursday, August 5th, meeting at 6pm and party at 7pm.
If you are unfamiliar with the program "TEAM IN TRAINING" help individuals (mostly beginners) train for endurance events while raising money for the fight against blood cancer. Justin Sandy is a marathon coach working with TEAM IN TRAINING. >>> WEBSITE

LOOKING FOR GROUP RUNS FOR STEAMTOWN MARATHON PREP- The registration staff of the "Steamtown Marathon" is getting bombarded this year. Approaching 2000 registrations and will be capping it at 2500. As of July 5th, Assistant Jim Cummings writes "Just received our 1,800 the entry. Only 700 spots left."
They have had some inquiries from registrants regarding training runs on the course. Although the Marathon does not sanction any training runs, they would like to hear of any local groups who may be doing any group training runs and open to out of towners and others, for this race. You can forward any info you have to Darleen Oleski droleski93@aol.com to get the word out. You can also email NEPARUNNER.com at runnepa@aol.com and we could post something here.
