2006 NESCOPECK SUMMER BIATHLON

COMPLETE RESULTS
The 2006 Summer Biathlon season officially got underway yesterday as 38 competitors braved rainy and windy conditions and temperatures in the 40’s at Nescopeck, PA. This race served as the first race of the Pennsylvania Biathlon Club Triple Crown Series.

The women’s Match Race was won by defending national champion Ann Sick of Millville, PA. With a 50% shooting performance, she defeated runner-up Lucie Bergeyova by 85 seconds. Jeanice Naulty of Birdsboro, PA won the masters competition in finishing third overall.

The women’s Sport Race was won by first-timer Emma Winslow of Lewisburg, PA, who shot 30% and outdistanced second place Traci Dutko by 72 seconds. Carmella Dipippa of Bloomsburg, PA won the masters competition in finishing third overall.

The men’s Sport Race was won by Richard Merritts of Altoona, PA, as he shot 80% to narrowly edge out second place finisher Brian “Flash” Barchick by 6 seconds. Len Mellon of Bethlehem, PA captured the masters title.

Despite crossfiring in my prone shooting, I managed to win the men’s Match Race over masters champion Scott Sick, of Millville, PA.

Complete results of the races are copied at the below, followed by the current PABC Triple Crown Series Standings. I’ve attached information regarding the series. The three women at the top of the standings after Nescopeck are: (1) Ann Sick, (2) Emma Winslow, and (3) Traci Dutko. The top three men are: (1) Doug Hoover, (2) Richard Merritts, and (3) Flash Barchick.

Following the results, I have copied the remainder of the 2006 Summer Biathlon Schedule. The next race on the schedule is back at Nescopeck. It is a relay event two weeks from today. Also in May is the first race of the New Jersey series on May 21. The next race of the PABC series is at Lancaster on June 11 and will be followed by Altoona on July 1.
